Monday Poker News Briefs
Phil Ivey lost out in a $1.1 million dollar pot to Tom Dwan in the Full Tilt Million Dollar Cash Game, but recorded an $800k winning session online last night. The Million Dollar Cash Game, which will air in January on Sky Sports, featured a host of Full Tilt pros including Mike Matusow, Gus Hansen and Patrik Antonius. But it was Tom Dwan and Phil Ivey who waged the war to end all wars. All the money went in on a Q-3-5-4 board, with Ivey tabling A-2, and Dwan 6-7 for the nut straight.

NBC’s ‘Face The Ace’ show (where contestants single out three Full Tilt pros for a series of heads up matches in the hope of winning $1 million) aired last night, despite questions over its ratings and integrity. The show has been attacked for its over-hyping of simple heads up matches, and insufficient emphasis on poker.

Gaming regulation company Kahnawake Gaming has provided its conclusive report on the Ultimate Bet scandal that shook the poker world in 2007. It involved the use of super accounts with hole card revealers to gain an unfair advantange. The report implicates 1994 WSOP Main Event champion Russ Hamilton as the main person responsible for the cheating scam. It notes how Tokwiro Enterprises, owner of Ultimate Bet, were fined $1.5 million, and how $22 million had been returned to scammed players.
