Patrick from University of St Andrews Poker Society is the organiser and he has provided these details for the UK Student Poker Championship 2010!!!
It's such an enjoyable few days and I'm sure this year will be even better than all previous years!
Please see the below details for Championship details and how to register:
Overview:
The UKSPC 2010 is a £33 Texas Hold’em No Limit tournament with up to 340 students from across the UK. The venue is the Birmingham Broadway Casino.
It’s a really fun and friendly tournament and all levels of experience are welcome.
The players are randomly split into Day 1a (6th April 2010) and Day 1b (7th April 2010). Approximately 20 students from each Day 1 make it to the final day (8th April 2010).
The blind structure is very generous, allowing for a lot of play. Expect a starting stack of 10,000, with starting blinds of 25-50.
Payouts:
The prizepool is formed from the £30 buyin (£3 is given to the casino for dealers etc) and is distributed in a standard payout structure to the top 10% of players.
The final two players will each receive £1,000 from the prizepool.
The winner receives £1,000, plus receive a flights, accommodation, and a $10,000 buyin to the World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas!!
Side Tournaments:
On each of Day 1a and Day 1b there will also be a side tournament. Betfred will add some money to the prizepool! Details to be confirmed shortly.
How to Register:
If you are a member of a Poker Society: Ask your President to compile a list of members who wish to play and he should collect £33 from each player. The President then needs to send a cheque made out to ‘University of St Andrews Poker Society’ and post it to Patrick Smith (please email
Patrick@usaps.org.uk).
If you are not a member of a Poker Society: You can register via a holding tournament on Betfred Poker. This will be online shortly after Christmas.
Notes about Player Age and ID
You need to be at least 18 years old to be able to enter the casino (you will need to bring ID, drivers licence or passport, each day to enter the casino).
If you are not 21 years by summer of 2010, you can still win the World Series of Poker prize, it is carried on to the following year(s).
You will need to present your student ID card on the first day.
